Everyone is different; some people need an energy boost more frequently than others. The timing is based on a person’s metabolism, the outside temperature, the length of the event, and when the body needs it. If there had to be a universal average to consume an energy gel, it would be approximately every 45 minutes of training or competing.
You don’t need to wear underwear with running shorts. That’s because most running shorts will come with that built-in liner and adding a pair of underwear can lead to some noticeable discomfort.
We’ll show you how to run in zone 2. For most runners, it’s very comfortable; it’s a jogging pace only, and easy to maintain a conversation while doing the activity. The heart beats at 60–70% of its maximum heart rate, and training in this zone benefits the body.
It is not a good idea to run in water shoes for any substantial length of time. Not only do water shoes have very little cushioning or support built into them, but they would also cause significant chafing and blistering if they were to be worn while running. This is especially true for the majority of runners who are used to wearing typically supportive shoes.
Each country sets its limits for participating in many Olympic sports, including swimming. According to the Olympic rules, qualifying swimmers of any age are allowed to participate. Team USA currently sets a minimum age of 14 for women and 15 for men.
