Can Swimming Make You Taller (or Shorter)? What Does Swimming Do To Your Body!

Swimming does not make one taller (or shorter). However, swimming does have several  (predominantly positive) effects on the body concerning cardiovascular endurance (& strength), muscle tone/strength, the respiratory system, burning calories, one’s size/stature/build (growth), and one’s overall health/wellness. The main factor in determining one’s height is genetics.  One’s genetics (DNA) is responsible for about 80% of their height. The remaining 20% is determined by external factors that can affect growth (height) such as nutrition, gender, hormones, activity, and [certain] medical conditions.

How Thick Should A Tri-Suit Be? How Should It Fit!

A tri suit, not to be confused with a triathlon wetsuit (made of thin or thick neoprene/rubber), is thin and made of fabric similar to that of a regular swimsuit- typically lycra/spandex.  Therefore, a tri suit is not very thick at all. It’s about as thick as a regular women’s swimsuit/men’s swim briefs or jammers.

How Thick Should a Triathlon Wetsuit Be? Why You Need (A New) One!

Furthermore, USAT, IT, & WTC (Ironman) have rules about the thickness of wetsuits. Their rules state that wetsuits can be no more than 5mm thick (at any point on the wetsuit). Thus, one’s wetsuit for their triathlon(s)/triathlon event(s) will need to be 5mm or less in thickness at any given point on the wetsuit.

Are Triathlon Bikes Good for Long Distances? When Not to Use Them!

Triathlon bikes are meant to be comfortable for any triathlon distance, meaning anywhere from 12 to 112 miles. While it is generally agreed that a road bike provides more comfort and control, it is equally accepted that the tri-bike aerodynamics efficiency allows for a higher speed. In conclusion, it’s a tradeoff between comfort, control, and speed, however, there may not be enough of a noticeable difference between a triathlon bike and a road bike which is set up with aerodynamic components.
